Quality outcomes from vocational education and training (VET) are fundamental to ensuring a skilled workforce and supporting a productive economy. In a competency-based training system, assessment is the gatekeeper for quality. Audits undertaken by the Australian Skills and Quality Authority (ASQA) have identified concerns with compliance against the assessment requirements of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015. In 2015-16, ASQA made the decision to cancel or not renew the registration of 107 RTOs, more than double those from the previous year. Of those that were audited, only 18.2% of providers were found to be fully compliant in the initial audit (ASQA Annual Report 2015-16).
In November 2016, Improve Group were sanctioned for one qualification and therefore unable to take any new enrolments for MSF30413 Certificate III in Glass and Glazing. Assessment is a valuable point of control in the VET system, and the Improve Group’s assessment system was extensively reviewed with mechanisms now in place which look at assessment systems, comparability of assessment, and re-assessment where necessary and appropriate. This was submitted to ASQA for full review and reassessment with 100% compliance now assured and sanction lifted. With the ASQA restriction lifted, Improve Group are back in full force and are again training our full scope of qualifications. More specifically, this means that we are again able to take new enrolments for all of our qualifications, including MSF30413 Certificate III in Glass and Glazing.
What does this mean for you? You are now able to enroll your apprentices with Improve Group and rest assured that our qualifications meet industry standards.
