Course Overview

Low Voltage Rescue (LVR) training is aimed at those working within the electrical industry. This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to conduct a Low Voltage Rescue of a victim and carry out Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation when necessary.

This course is aimed at people in the electrical industry who wish to gain low voltage switchboard rescue and resuscitation skills for their workplace or personal benefit. This course meets the requirements of the Electrical Safety Act and the Code of Practice: Electrical Work, Part 4 – Working Live.

A person completing this course is able to conduct a Low Voltage Rescue of a victim and carry out Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as well as provide initial treatment of burns. The CPR component is Nationally Recognised training, and provides successful students with the following unit of competency:

HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

This unit is combined with Low Voltage Rescue training which addresses the following additional competencies:

  • Identify legislation for work on electrical installations
  • Conduct risk assessments
  • Explain the “hierarchy of control”
  • Plan a job for safely working live
  • Describe the content of a Low Voltage Rescue Kit
  • Demonstrate safe rescue procedures
  • Provide initial first aid and treatment for burns
  • Choose fire extinguisher methods
  • Apply life support skills

Participants who satisfactorily complete the Low Voltage Rescue course by passing both the theory and practical assessment will receive a Certificate of Attendance for the non-accredited LVR component, and a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognized HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation issued by Improve Group RTO #31506, valid for 12 months.
