Course Overview

This qualification is designed for production and operations managers, and will help participants to better understand how to improve their supply chain performance.

This qualification is designed for future and current production and operations managers and will challenge you to build your management skills and improve your production and supply chain performance. Whilst it has been specifically developed for the manufacturing sector, this qualification can be applied in the value chain of other organisations.

Participants are required to have sufficient numeracy and literacy skills to read and comprehend instruction. This qualification is not suitable for direct entry from school, as it is assumed that a learner has already gained operational or technical skills to complement the training. It is recommended that participants have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role within a production or operational environment.

Employment outcomes related to this qualification may include roles such as a production or operations manager. This qualification provides skills that can be applied to the design and control of production systems within an organisation, including:

  • planning and scheduling;
  • tracking and analysing; and
  • directing and operating

This qualification provides the skills needed to assist organisations to improve production where competitive systems and practices (lean) processes are not fully employed. It therefore complements but does not duplicate qualifications supplying skills related to competitive systems and practices. Where these skills are required, the MSS50316 Diploma of Competitive Systems and Practices should be considered.

MSMENV472 Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices *
MSMSUP400 Develop and monitor quality systems
MSMWHS503 Maintain the workplace WHS management system
MSS404052 Apply statistics to operational processes
MSS405081 Develop a proactive maintenance strategy
PMAOPS500 Optimise production systems
TLIP4013 Implement and monitor logistics planning and process

The units above may be altered upon discussion with your coach.

Participants who demonstrate competency by passing both the theory and practical assessments (for all units in the list above) will receive a Qualification in MSM50316 Diploma of Production Management issued by the Improve Group RTO #31506.

Participants who complete individual units will receive a Statement of Attainment for those units completed.
